Barzani Both the Turkish military and the illegal Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) had better hush their arms and find out a solution to their problems through dialogue, in accordance with Kurdistan Regional Government President Masoud Barzani. “Those in charge of the PKK also agree that asserting arms isn’t a answer,” he stated.

Expressing that the period of armed struggle was terminated since this process now only created obstructions to a solution, Barzani stated: “incidents like the Silvan and Dağlıca attacks happen and produce tension, and so the dialogue gets cut off.”

Barzani gathered with prominent Kurdish intellectual Kemal Burkay on June 26 in the Selahaddin state of northern Iraq, and told that Burkay’s turn back to his country after a long period away was a sign of positive changes, in accordance with the official site of Iraqi Kurdistan Democratic Party.

According to Denge Azad internet site, in the gathering lasting for about a 60 minutes, Barzani touched upon the importance of hushing arms inversely for the answer of Kurdish problem.

“In the past we also went to war for our rights and liberties and struggled for a long time. But it was different then. At present the circumstances of the country and the world have greatly altered. In today’s world, going to war poses obstructions to the solution, instead of serving it. Those in charge of the PKK also accord with me in that respect,” told Barzani.
