A funeral held for 17 Turkish soldiers

A funeral service was held in southeastern province of Diyarbakir on Sunday for 17 soldiers who were killed in a helicopter crash in Siirt.

copyright_aabadoluajansi_2012_20121112065706Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) chairman Kemal Kilicdaroglu, Chief of General Staff Gen. Necdet Ozel, Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay, Interior Minister Idris Naim Sahin and other officials attended the funeral at Diyarbakir Airport.
Siirt Governor Ahmet Aydin said that the military helicopter carrying soldiers on a mission crashed in heavy rain and fog in a mountainous area in Pervari town of Siirt on Saturday, killing 17 soldiers.
General Staff said that an investigation has been launched on the military helicopter crash.
