An 80,000-square-meter miniature park is to be established by the Central Anatolian province of Konya’s Meram Municipality and will feature models of 120 historical artifacts in Turkey and abroad.

n_38359_4The three-part project will significantly boost the city’s tourism potential by bring together history, culture, arts, science and technology, according to a statement by Meram Mayor Serdar Kalaycı at a press conference Jan. 3.

“This project will be greater than Miniatürk,” Kalaycı said, referencing Turkey’s first miniature park, located in Istanbul. “Most of the [models here] are the ones that are not in Miniatürk. There will be mockups of historical places from Azerbaijan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Syria, Greece, Albania, Turkmenistan and Saudi Arabia. The mockups will be made to last 40 years. In the second part of the project, the creatures that have so far lived in the world will be displayed as well as species of dinosaurs whose fossils have so far been discovered. This section will display movable dinosaur mockups.”

Cartoon and folklore heroes will be featured in the third part of the project. “This section will be very different from similar ones in Turkey. Electronic screening systems will be placed in this part and people will see animations,” Kalaycı said.
