Turkey’s national air carrier, Turkish Airlines, will acquire dozens of new planes this year, a top executive of the firm said yesterday.
Turkish Airlines Executive Board Chairman Hamdi Topçu said 36 new planes will be added to the airline’s fleet this year, as part of 91-plane acquisition program. The airline company made investments worth $950 million last year, excluding plane purchases, Topçu said.
The company is also slated to complete the construction of a 380,000-square-meter indoor hangar area at Sabiha Gökçen Airport soon, Topçu said. Turkish Airlines’ maintenance capacity will increase fourfold when the facility goes into operation in September.
