Turkish police staged a narcotics operation early on Aug. 5, detaining a number of people including several popular actors and musicians.
Police have detained popular figures including Kenan İmirzalıoğlu, Engin Günaydın, Sarp Apak, Şahin Irmak, Engin Altan Düzyatan, Nehir Erdoğan, Koray Candemir, Gökçe Özyol, Mehmet Erdem and İlker Aksum as part of the raids in Istanbul and İzmir, Doğan news agency reported.
İmirzalıoğlu, who starred in popular shows and movies such as “Deli Yürek,” “Karadayı,” “Yazı Tura” and “Kabadayı,” and a former Best Model of the World winner, was detained while on vacation.
Günaydın is a renowned actor, who starred in comedy shows “Yalan Dünya” and won several awards with his performance in the Zeki Demirkubuz movie “Yeraltı.”
Singer Candemir, actor and television show host Düzyatan, actress Erdoğan are among the other popular names that were detained.
