Missing PilotThe Turkish military has stated search and rescue attempts to find the wreckage of a jet shot down by Syria last Friday and its 2 pilots have til now came out very little.
The General Staff told in a statement stationed online on Thursday that 5 military ships and 4 search and rescue helicopters have been looking for for the jet since Friday. The statement told teams have been carrying out the search and rescue day-and-night, but neither the pilots nor the wreckage were located. The military contributed that they’ve only been able to come up a few pieces of the jet and some of the pilots’ possessions.

Minister of Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communications Binali Yıldırım stated on Tuesday that the pilots’ helmets were found out during research and rescue attempts, a sign that, experts tell, could indicate the pilots booted out before the aircraft dashed into the water.

A Turkish jet was downed by Syrian forces while aviating unaccompanied and disarmed 13 miles off the coast of Syria in international airspace last Friday. All the same, Syria still asserts the aircraft was in Syrian airspace when it downed the plane. Syria, which conjoined in Turkish attempts to locate the wreckage and pilots, earlier laid claim that it handed the tail section of the plane over to Turkey and that it bears obvious bullet holes, evidence that it was downed by short-range weapons and so in Syrian airspace.
