Turkish President Abdulah Gul expressed his pleasure at the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) which was granted the Nobel Peace Prize.

The president replied to questions from press members after performing the Friday prayer at Istanbul’s Tarabya Central Mosque. Upon a question concerning the awarding of the prize to an organization under the directorship of Turkish Ahmet Uzumcu, Gul said, “I congratulate all the individuals in the organization. Struggling with chemical weapons is as important as struggling with nuclear weapons. That’s why I am very much pleased with the success of the organization.”
