Death toll from 1000-day Syrian civil war over 129K

Since the onset of the bloody war in March 2011, around 129,403 people, including 102,759 civilians, were killed in crackdown by Syrian regime forces on opposition fighters.

496d7540-042c-11e3-a51b-674693ac7933-jpg20131211010845The death toll has surpassed 129,000 as it has been a thousand days since the clashes broke out in Syria in March 2011, said Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) on Tuesday.

The latest report released by the London-based SNHR which tracks civilian and dissident casualties indicated that around 129,403 people, including 102,759 civilians, were killed in crackdown by Syrian regime forces on opposition fighters in Syria since March 2011.

The report stated that there were 12,148 children and 11,035 women among the civilian fatalities, adding that 3,461 people, including 29 women and 91 children, were tortured to death.

It also showed that in war-torn Syria, around 215,000 people were arrested by Damascus regime for various reasons and 9,000 of them are children while 4,500 of them were women.

– 7,500 Syrian women were raped by regime forces –

Since the onset of the civil war in March 2011, more than 900,000 buildings were demolished including hospitals, schools, mosques and churches, giving another detail that at least 7,500 women were raped by regime forces.

A total of 6.3 million children have been displaced while 3.6 million of them fled abroad in seek of asylum, said SNHR, noting that they documented the deaths, detentions and demolished houses with video footage and photos.
