Syrian refugeesMore than 2,000 people fled ferocity in Syria to arrive at neighbouring Turkey in the past 2 days, bringing the total number of Syrians who sought refuge there to more than 50,000, Turkish authorities told on Thursday.

The rate of refugee flows has arisen and there are concerns there could be an exodus from Syria’s greatest city Aleppo, where there is heavy combat between President Bashar al-Assad’s forces and rebel fighters.

There were 50,238 Syrians in Turkey as of Thursday, after 2,223 people crossed the border on Aug 8-9, the state-run Disaster and Emergency Administration told in a statement.

The refugees are housed at 9 camps in four Turkish provinces along the Syrian borderline.

The 17-month arising against Assad’s rule in Syria has made a refugee crisis in Turkey and other neighbouring countries. Turkey is concerned that a flood of refugees could overwhelm its power to care for them.

Confrontation sources state at least 18,000 people have been killed since the rebellion started in Syria in March 2011
