Renewed Support for Palestine
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi have reaffirmed their joint support for the two-state solution as the only sustainable path to peace in the Middle East. During a recent phone call, both leaders discussed pressing regional issues, particularly the rising tensions between Israel and Iran.
Fidan strongly criticized Israel’s military actions in Gaza, describing them as acts of genocide and voicing deep concern over the worsening humanitarian crisis. He emphasized the urgent need to protect Palestinian civilians. Wang Yi echoed these sentiments, affirming China’s backing for a peaceful and just resolution to the conflict.
Shared Vision for Peace
The two ministers stressed the importance of reviving the two-state solution, which envisions an independent State of Palestine coexisting alongside Israel. They underlined that this remains the most realistic and just way to achieve lasting peace and regional stability.
In a related statement, China condemned recent Israeli and U.S. attacks on Iran as violations of sovereignty and international law. Wang Yi warned that such actions could threaten global nuclear non-proliferation efforts and set dangerous precedents.
Enhancing Bilateral Cooperation
Beyond the Middle East, the conversation also focused on strengthening Turkey-China relations. Fidan and Wang agreed to enhance cooperation in trade, investment, and political dialogue, signaling a shared interest in deeper bilateral ties.
China expressed hope that Turkey would continue playing a proactive role in regional diplomacy. Wang noted that China encourages all parties to speak in favor of peace and against escalating conflicts.
