Former British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said in a recent book he wrote that the Justice and Development (AK) Party government has been the most successul Turkish government in the post-war era.

Straw’s book titled “Last Man Standing: Memoirs of a Political Survivor” was published in Britain on Tuesday.
Straw’s book has almost 600 pages and he made comments on the European Union (EU) and Turkey in section 18 of his book.
“The sick man (of Europe) has recovered. With economic power, Turkey has also achieved diplomatic power,” Straw stressed.
On Turkey’s EU bid, Straw underlined that the real reason in preventing Turkey’s EU membership had to do with its being a Muslim nation.
