A boat carrying 5 people capsized on Sun in Kumburgaz, a town in İstanbul’s Büyükçekmece district. 4 people are reported to be missing.
A group of 5 people set sail around 5 p.m. on Sunday with the purpose of fishing off the Kumburgaz coast. Bülent Balta, one of the fishermen, managed to swim ashore after the boat flipped over.
Emergency rescue squads were then notified and arrived at the scene. They’re now looking for the 4 missing fishermen: Şener Karataş, İsmail Kılıçaslan, Metin Şahin and Hamdi Ali Ertuğrul. A helicopter is assisting in the rescue operation.
