“Cancer fear” of South American leaders

Recently, leaders of the South American countries have been diagnosed with cancer.
copyright_aabadoluajansi_2012_20121003041716Lastly, Juan Manuel Santos, the President of Colombia, was diagnosed with prostate cancer after heads of state of Venezuela, Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina.
Hugo Chavez, the President of Venezuela, was one of the South American leader to be in front of the media while he was fighting against rhabdomyosarcoma. After months of treatment process, in July, Chavez stated that he recovered from cancer completely.
Dilma Rouseff, the first female President of Brazil, was diagnosed with lymph node cancer in 2009 and after a treatment period, it was stated that she received the control of her health.
Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, the President of Argentina, was diagnosed with thyroid cancer during Christmas period last year after routine health check ups. After undergoing an operation in January, it was stated that 58-year-old leader Kirchner’s recovery was excellent.
Former President of Paraguay, Fernando Lugo, was diagnosed with lymph node cancer in 2010 and after receiving chemotherapy treatment, his illness showed signs of recovery.
Former President of Peru, Alberto Fujimori, who has been jailed for violation of human rights in Peru, has been fighting against mouth cancer. Lastly, he underwent an operation in August, 2012.
Latest South American leader name who fights against cancer is Colombian leader, Juan Manuel Santos. 61-year-old Santos fighting against prostate cancer had received and early diagnosis and his tumour is expected to be removed this week.
Giving a statement during his treatment period, leader of Venezuela, Chavez said that the situation of all the South American leaders having cancer was “weird” and he said that the disease might be a technology planned by U.S. in order to spread it.
