Current state and prospects of Kyrgyz-Uzbek cooperation discussed in Tashkent

Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan Ibragim Zhunusov and First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Farhod Arziev discussed the current state of Kyrgyz-Uzbek cooperation, the press service of the Kyrgyz diplomatic mission told Kabar.

During the meeting, the sides noted that due to the well-coordinated and effective work of the ministries of the two countries, there is a significant positive dynamics in the development of bilateral ties.

Within the framework of the meeting, the sides discussed the agreements reached following the visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbaev to the city of Tashkent and stressed the need for an early signing of a plan of practical measures (Roadmap).

The Uzbek side expressed its readiness to increase trade and economic cooperation in processing, joint export of fruits and vegetables, textile products, agricultural machinery, building materials and pharmaceuticals.

The interest was expressed in continuing cooperation in the transport and logistics sector, on the construction of a logistics center in the city of Osh, in order to develop multimodal transportation, as well as the possible participation of the Uzbek side in the reconstruction of some sections of the Osh-Sarytash-Irkeshtam road.

They also noted the importance of enhancing the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway.

In addition, issues on building up cooperation in the field of tourism were discussed.

The sides noted the need for an early holding of the Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation and a meeting of the Council of Heads of Border Regions.
