Donald Trump surprised Republicans on Tuesday that he would not participate in Thursday’s scheduled FOX TV’s Iowa Republican primary debate, saying it wasn’t his job to “make FOX rich” when prompted about his decision.
The FOX Republican debates have been highly rated TV, a fact attributed partly due to Trump’s controversial nature. However, Mr. Trump now claims that Fox and other television networks have been taking advantage of him by selling advertisements for their debates at a high premium.
The debate is scheduled to be in Des Moines on Thursday, and Trump said he would instead host a competing event in the state designed to raise money for wounded veterans.
