Egyptian police fire on anti-coup demonstrators: 50 killed

At least 50 were killed when Egyptian security forces began crackdown on pro-democracy protesters in Rabaa al-Adawiya Square today.

APTOPIX_Mideast_Egypt__systems@deccanmail.com_2Egyptian security forces began dispersing on anti-coup demonstrators in Rabaa al-Adawiya Square in capiral Cairo on Wednesday morning which caused the death of at least 50 people. There are reports of many injuries.

AA correspondent on scene reported that that Anti-Coup Coalition which organized the protests says random fires were opened on demonstrators and snipers’ fire also kicked off.

Live broadcasts from the square were cut as well as signals of the communication lines were blocked by jammer devices.

Police assault to disperse sit-ins in Rabaa al-Adawiya and al-Nahda Squares continues. Helicopters fly over the squares.

Moreover, flyers which urge women and children to leave the squares are being thrown from helicopters. Flyers also include that safety of those who leave the squares will be assured.

Tents in the al-Nahda Square are being destroyed by the security forces who came together with armed units.
