Erdoğan Backs Peace Between Pakistan and India

Turkey Backs India-Pakistan Peace Talks

At the Turkey-Azerbaijan-Pakistan Trilateral Summit in Lachin, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan proposed a bold diplomatic initiative: Turkey’s readiness to mediate peace between India and Pakistan.

Standing alongside Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Erdoğan praised the recent cease-fire and emphasized that lasting India-Pakistan peace is vital for regional stability.

Erdoğan highlighted the strength of trilateral unity, stating that such alliances are essential in today’s complex geopolitical environment.

Strategic Energy Alliances Reshape the Region

President Aliyev announced major energy cooperation projects, emphasizing how Turkey and Azerbaijan have redefined the energy map through renewable production and export plans.

With Pakistan joining the effort, the trio aims to create a vast energy corridor spanning Central and South Asia. These projects are vital for ensuring long-term regional and global energy security.

Lachin Summit: A Symbol of Unity

Held in Lachin—a city reclaimed from occupation—the summit coincided with Azerbaijan’s Independence Day. It symbolized the three nations’ shared commitment to sovereignty, peace, and regional solidarity.

Aliyev described the summit as a tradition of “mutual pride and unwavering support,” reinforcing historical and cultural bonds.

Strong Economic Ties and Investment

Aliyev revealed that Azerbaijan has invested over $20 billion in Turkey and plans an additional $2 billion investment in Pakistan. These investments reflect a deep economic alliance rooted in strategic interests.

The economic partnerships are designed not just to grow GDPs, but to build a regional network of resilience and prosperity.

Defense and Future Technologies on the Agenda

Aliyev outlined joint military drills and technological projects, highlighting how shared defense strategies enhance peacekeeping capacity.

He also identified future collaboration in fields like artificial intelligence, digital innovation, and space exploration—showing that the alliance is future-focused.

Solidarity with Pakistan and Respect for Turkey

Aliyev expressed Azerbaijan’s solidarity with Pakistan during recent tensions with India, calling for peaceful solutions under international law.

He also applauded Turkey’s recent success in counterterrorism efforts, particularly against the PKK, crediting President Erdoğan’s firm leadership.

Shared Vision for Justice and Stability

The trilateral partnership is built not only on mutual benefit but shared values. From support during the Karabakh War to united diplomatic goals, the three nations stand as one.

Aliyev closed the summit with a powerful message: “The Turkey-Azerbaijan friendship is eternal,” a sentiment now embraced in Islamabad as well.
