Deputy PM Atalay said blaming AK Party for “interfering in life style” in Taksim Gezi Park sit-in was an injustice both for the government and Turkey.
Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay stated that blaming the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party for “interfering in life style” in Taksim Gezi Park sit-in, was an injustice both for the government and Turkey.
Atalay , speaking at a TV channel, emphasized that they gave importance to participation and always recommended youths to take part in the incidents in the country and not step back from politics. He said that Turkey got normalized since AK Party came into rule, clothing debates in universities ended and everybody lived as they wanted.
Underlining that there was no interference in clothing of anybody, he said it was the first time for Turkey to live such a normal period.
“Our youths are very precious and I don’t agree with their saying as “my life style is interfered”. Blaming AK Party for “interfering in life style” in Taksim Gezi Park sit-in, is an injustice both for the government and Turkey. Look, in the last eleven years, our biggest struggle has been the inhibitions and taboos. We work to normalize Turkey. There had been many bans and extraordinary situations,” Atalay said.
“People always lay forth their demands and ideas in Turkey and we benefit from them. They have methods and ways. We have close relations with non-governmental organizations and we urge them. If one of the indispensable conditions of democracy is elections, another one of them is non-governmental organizations,” he added.
Noting that the dialogues were continuing with Taksim platform, Atalay stressed that those were highly significant, adding that those groups’ marching to Prime Ministry building was not an innocent environmental movement.
He said, those were ideological and political illegal organizations, which used opportunities in such times and used either some opposition parties or illegal organizations.
Atalay noted that maintenance were made in the damaged public and private properties, and that government would redress the damage of citizens, stressing that no demand could be expressed with ravaging.
