OIC SG Ihsanoglu in Cairo

Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu on Saturday began his four day trip to Cairo.

copyright_aabadoluajansi_2012_20121105064807Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu on Sunday held separate meetings with the Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr and Egyptian Minister of Antiquities Mohamed Ibrahim Ali in Cairo.

Speaking to the Anadolu Agency (AA), Ihsanoglu said that Ibrahim Ali and he discussed possible cooperation on joint projects between the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities and the Research Center for Islamic History, Art and Culture based in Istanbul.
A spokesperson for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Amr Rushdie stressed that Ihsanoglu and Kamel Amr discussed the problems of Rohingya Muslims and extending assistance to them.
“Ihsanoglu and Kamel Amr also discussed a summit of the OIC to take place in Egypt in February,” Rushdie noted.
On Sunday evening, Ihsanoglu will attend a ceremony at the Turkish Embassy in Cairo where his book “Turks in Egypt and their Cultural Heritage” and its English version would be introduced.
Ihsanoglu is expected to meet Egyptian Prime Minister Hisham Qandil and Vice President Mahmoud Mekky on Monday.

OIC to convene for Rohingya Muslims

OIC took a decision to convene for Rohingya Muslims.

In a statement released on Sunday, the OIC said that the main item on the agenda of their planned session in Djibouti between November 15 and 17 would be the Rohingya Muslims.
The OIC will make use of all diplomatic channels so that the situation of the Rohingya Muslims comes up on the agenda of the United Nations, the statement also said.
