Ban Ki-moon told Erdogan that he condemned Syria’s attack on Turkey.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone conversation with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
Sources said that Ban Ki-moon phoned Erdogan on Thursday and the two leaders spoke for 23 minutes.
Ban Ki-moon told Erdogan that the incident in south-eastern town of Akcakale town where Syrian artillery shells landed killing 5 Turks and wounding 9 others was unacceptable.
Ban Ki-moon told Erdogan that he condemned Syria’s attack on Turkey.
Erdogan, in his part, told Ban Ki-moon that Turkey expected the UN Security Council to openly condemn Syria’s attack on Turkey.
Davutoglu held phone conversations with Arab leaders
On the other hand, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu held separate phone conversations with Secretary General of the Arab League Nabil al-Arabi and Foreign Minister of Egypt Mohamed Kamel Amr.
Diplomatic sources told the Anadolu Agency (AA) that Minister Davutoglu provided information to both Arab officials on the situation at the Turkish-Syrian border following the landing of Syrian artillery shells on south-eastern town of Akcakale on Wednesday that left 5 Turks dead and wounded 9 others.
Both al-Arabi and Amr conveyed their condolences to Davutoglu and underlined that they were in solidarity with Turkey.
