Turkey condemned reported Russian airstrikes which killed dozens of Syrian civilians in a rebel-held city. Air raids killed more than 40 people in the city of Idlib in Northe Western Syria.

Relations between Ankara and Moscow are at their worst in recent times ever since Turkey shot down a Russian plane over Syria last month. This incident caused the death of the Russian pilot who was shot by rebels ad he parachuted down from the aircraft.

There have been over 2,132 reported deaths in Syria due to Russian airstrikes which began on September 30. A third of those killed were civilians.

Turkey has long called for the ousting of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and supports rebels fighting against him.
