President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has emphasized the need for Turkey to take decisive action as the world undergoes substantial changes, marking what he describes as the most significant transformation in global order since the Cold War era. Speaking after a recent cabinet meeting in Ankara, Erdogan highlighted that Turkey cannot afford to remain passive in the face of these global shifts.

Erdogan underscored Turkey’s commitment to dismantling what he referred to as a “bloody and treacherous death plot” orchestrated by the PKK terrorist organization in the Qandil region of northern Iraq. According to Erdogan, the government’s efforts in Qandil aim not only to target terrorism but also to challenge those who incite and support it from behind the scenes.

“We are resolute in dismantling the terror structure in Qandil and eliminating the threats posed by those who fuel these organizations,” Erdogan stated. He further emphasized that Turkey is actively working to establish a secure environment, ensuring stability both within the country and across its borders.

The PKK, which has long used northern Iraq as a base to launch cross-border attacks on Turkey, has conducted a campaign of violence for over 40 years. Classified as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States, and the European Union, the PKK has been responsible for the deaths of more than 40,000 people, including civilians, women, children, and the elderly. Erdogan’s statements reaffirm Turkey’s dedication to addressing these security threats and to preventing further attacks on its citizens.

Erdogan also pointed out that Turkey’s approach to handling terrorism goes beyond just military measures. He stressed that the country is committed to both domestic and regional stability through coordinated efforts, aiming to eradicate terrorist threats and prevent foreign influence that may seek to destabilize the region. The president’s remarks underline Turkey’s broader role in the evolving global landscape, as it aims to uphold peace and security amid ongoing geopolitical shifts.
