
Erdogan and Sharif Commit to Stronger Turkey-Pakistan Trade
During a high-level meeting in Istanbul, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif reaffirmed their shared vision to enhance Turkey-Pakistan trade and diplomatic cooperation. Held at the Dolmabahce Working Office, the leaders agreed on a mutual goal: raising bilateral trade to $5 billion.
The conversation also covered pressing regional and international developments. Both sides underscored the strategic importance of strengthening political and economic ties.
Expanding Cooperation in Security, Energy, and Education
President Erdogan highlighted Turkey’s readiness to collaborate with Pakistan across various sectors—especially energy, defense, and transportation. These initiatives aim to deepen long-term economic ties and bolster regional stability.
Erdogan stressed the significance of joint efforts against terrorism, suggesting enhanced intelligence sharing and training programs. The leaders also discussed improving the Istanbul-Tehran-Islamabad rail line, a vital corridor that could streamline regional trade and logistics.
In education, both parties agreed on the need for concrete measures to increase academic exchange and institutional collaboration—solidifying bilateral relations for the next generation.
A Shared Stance on Global Justice
President Erdogan commended Pakistan’s consistent and principled stance on the Palestinian issue. He reiterated Turkey’s determination to facilitate the rapid delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, aligning with Islamic values of justice and compassion.
This expression of solidarity reflects a broader commitment to standing for oppressed communities worldwide—an area where Turkey and Pakistan often find common ground in international diplomacy.
High-Level Delegation Emphasizes Strategic Importance
The presence of key Turkish officials, including Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and National Defense Minister Yasar Guler, underlined the importance of this bilateral meeting. Intelligence Director Ibrahim Kalin and Communications Director Fahrettin Altun also attended, signaling unified political will.
