The Chief Prosecutor’s office in the Turkish capital Ankara launched investigation into illegal march that was attended by several civil society organizations and political parties.
The investigation will continue under Law no. 2911 as the prosecutor believes there was a violation of the relevant law on demonstrations and marches.
Depending on expected police reports, the prosecutor may also begin an investigation on “intentional injury”, “resistance against public officials on duty”, and “damaging public property”.
Turkey on Monday celebrated the 89th anniversary of the Republic Day.
The Governor’s office of Ankara officially had stated that they would not permit an illegal march on Monday as they believed, based on intelligence received, that the march would be used as a tool for provocation by certain groups.
