copyright_aabadoluajansi_2012_20121003204842NATO Council strongly condemns Syria, expresses solidarity with Turkey, and warns Syria to end its violent acts and violations of international laws.

NATO Council convened at the level of ambassadors in an extraordinary meeting upon Turkey’s call following the death of 5 of its citizens and injury of 9 others after Syrian artillery shells landed in the south-eastern town of Akcakale.

Turkey’s Permanent Representative Haydar Berk will provide information to NATO ambassadors on the developments taking place at the Turkish-Syrian border.
The NATO meeting is taking place under the chairmanship of NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen.
NATO’s permanent representatives are expected to release a message indicating their solidarity with Turkey.
The decisions to be taken at the NATO meeting on Wednesday will determine the path NATO will follow upon latest developments.
