Russian FM said Turkey forced a Syrian passenger plane to land based on Chicago Convention.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov said that Turkey forced a Syrian passenger plane to land in Ankara last week based on rights stemming from the 1944 Chicago Convention on Civil Aviation.
Speaking to reporters during a visit to Luxembourg, Lavrov stated that they were waiting for an explanation for last week’s Turkish decision to force a Syrian passenger plane to land in Ankara while it was travelling to Damascus from Moscow.
The owner of the cargo in the Syrian passenger plane may request that the cargo be returned to them, Lavrov indicated.
“No one should be concerned about Turkish-Russian relations. Last week’s incident in Ankara will not hurt Turkish-Russian relations,” Lavrov also said.
