We discussed bungalow holiday concept with Ms. Nesil TAN, the founder of Nesilce Holiday Villiage. Turkey Tribune had the distinguished pleasure of talking to the inspiring entrepreneur regarding international bungalow tourism in Turkey and holiday bungalows.
Hello Nesil TAN, first of all, thank you for your time. Could you briefly introduce yourself?
Nesil TAN: Hello, I am Nesil. I am the founder and owner of Nesilce Holiday Village. By combining my many years of experience in the tourism sector and our passion for nature, we aimed to offer our guests a peaceful holiday experience. With this beautiful holiday village in Bolu Mengen, we are happy to welcome our guests in the lap of nature.
What facilities does Nesilce Holiday Village offer to its guests?
Nesil TAN: We offer our guests many activities such as horse riding, ATV tours, cycling tours and nature walks. We also organise relaxing activities such as yoga and meditation accompanied by our natural beauties. Our aim is to ensure that our guests both relax and spend a holiday in nature.
Why should local and foreign tourists come to Mengen? What makes Bolu special?
Nesil TAN: Mengen and Bolu in general is a region famous for its natural beauties. Bolu is a paradise for nature lovers with its lush forests, lakes and waterfalls. In addition, Bolu’s cuisine is very rich and delicious. Our guests from abroad enjoy these natural beauties and gastronomic richness. People who want to make holiday bungalows in Turkey for this reason often prefer Mengen.
What is the Average Price of a Bungalow Holiday in Mengen?
Nesil TAN : We offer different accommodation types such as bungalow for 2 people, bungalow for 4 people and bungalow apart. In addition to accommodation types, additional services offered can also affect prices. In addition, seasons, holidays and therefore occupancy rates affect holiday bungalows prices. For this reason, our customers should contact us for prices and availability.
How do you see the future of the bungalow holiday concept?
Nesil TAN: The bungalow holiday concept is becoming increasingly popular as it is a form of accommodation that is compatible with nature, sustainable and offers personal space. People no longer want to spend time in crowded hotels, but in quieter and more private places. Bungalows meet this need perfectly and I think this concept will become even more widespread in the future. What are the prejudices against the bungalow holiday concept? How do you break these prejudices as Nesilce Holiday Village?
Nesil TAN: The bungalow holiday concept is often associated with lack of comfort and primitive conditions. However, as Nesilce Holiday Village, we have built modern and comfortable bungalows to break down these prejudices. Our bungalows have comfortable beds, air conditioning and private bathrooms. We offer our guests the comfort of their homes while enjoying nature. We are very assertive in this regard.
Do foreign tourists come to Nesilce Holiday Village?
Nesil TAN: Yes, our facility was almost completely preferred by Turkish citizens until the last 5 years ago. However, in recent years, we observe a great increase in the number of foreign guests. Especially our guests from Europe and the Middle East prefer us to spend a peaceful holiday in touch with nature. Our foreign guests admire both our nature and the activities we offer.
What are the future plans of Nesilce Holiday Village?
Nesil TAN: In the future, we plan to further expand our holiday village and add new activities. We will also continue to constantly improve ourselves to offer more comfort and innovation to our guests. Our goal is to always offer a better holiday experience and keep our guests’ satisfaction at the highest level.
Mengen seems to have a rich history and natural beauty. What are some of the highlights that visitors to Nesilce Holiday Village shouldn’t miss?
Nesil TAN: Mengen is truly a treasure trove of experiences. Of course, its culinary heritage is legendary – our guests often rave about the local dishes, especially the Mengen Pilavı. It’s not your ordinary rice dish; it’s a symphony of flavors, with tender meat, fragrant rice, and often a medley of vegetables or mushrooms. But beyond the food, Mengen’s natural landscapes are simply breathtaking. Gelin Kayası, or Bride’s Rock, is a must-see. The rock formation itself is striking, resembling a veiled bride, and the legend surrounding it adds an extra layer of mystique.
For those who love the outdoors, Mamatlar Yaylası is a paradise. The highland meadows are surrounded by ancient trees, some estimated to be over 900 years old. It’s the perfect spot for hiking, picnicking, or simply enjoying the fresh air and tranquility. And then there are the other yaylas (highland plateaus) like Akçakoca, each with its own unique charm. Some offer stunning views, others have crystal-clear lakes for fishing, and all provide a peaceful escape from the everyday.
