Turkey’s Cuneyt Cakir elected “best international referee” by a blog site.
Turkish referee Cuneyt Cakir was elected 2012’s best international referee by “footballrefereeing.blogspot”.
Turkish Football Federation stated on Monday that “www.footballrefereeing.blogspot.com”, which was considered as the world’s most important blog site of referees, selected Cakir the best international referee in 2012.
Cakir’s semifinal appearance in UEFA Champions League (FC Barcelona – Chelsea), having been one of the best officials of the tournament at EURO 2012, and his performance in FIFA Club World Cup final were the reasons enough for the majority to vote for him, added the federation.
Colombia’s Wilmar Roldan was on the 2nd place, while Pedro Proenca of Portugal took the third place in the voting.
