Russia Heeds The UN Security Council Regarding Turkey

The United Nations Security Council will meet on Tuesday at the request of Russia to discuss Turkey’s shelling of PYD targets in Syria.

Turkey shelled YPG positions for three days in a row to stop fighters from seizing Azaz, just 8 kilometers from the Turkish border.

The YPG and Russian actions undermine the collective efforts in Syria for a ceasefire, despite the Munich Deal. Russia sent the UN an official request saying it was “deeply concerned by the use of force by Turkey against Syrian territory.”

The Russian request came after the country itself struck schools and hospitals in Syria on Monday, killing nearly 50 civilians, including children, which Turkey considers to be “war crimes”.
